How to Interpret Dreams?

Updated: Aug 17, 2022

We often wonder if our dreams carry meaning. Strange beings taking us to far away places. Flying through the galaxies to fantasy lands. Being chased by a scary monster, or driving to a deserted broken down city, with no way out?

Does all this mean anything? If so, what?

How can we understand Dreams? Where do we even start?

Psychologist's, and even the Bible, has much to say about Dreams and what takes place in them.

Tore Nielsen, Director of the Dream and Nightmare Laboratory at Montreal’s Sacré-Coeur Hospital, believes in dreams so much he dedicates an entire lab to reading and recording dream results.

His study shows that 81.5% of participants reported having a dream of being chased by something, 76.5% had a dream about a sexual experience and 73.8% had a dream about falling. He also connected dreams with our memories and our emotions, both physically and mentally, was affecting us in our daily lives.

The Bible says Dreams are very significant indeed, and that God, and other gods, are trying to communicate with us! Send us messages, talk with us, show us what is happening in our world and how to fix it. Give us movie like images and scenes, to understand what is attacking us, hurting us, what agreements we are making, who is trying to destroy us, or situations that are taking place in our real world, and how to overcome them. God is giving us hidden secrets, but it is up to us to decode it, and understand it!

For God may speak in one way, or in another, yet man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds, then He opens the ears of men and seals their instruction Job 33:14-16

Because we are a spiritual being, and our first estate is the spiritual world, God created us in the Heavens before He sent us through time to Earth. He uses the Dream Platform to speak to us, because in this platform our spirit is always awake and never sleeps.

Some Bible scriptures about how God operates in the Dream Platform:

  • Daniel was in a deep sleep when He heard the voice of God. [Daniel 10:9]

  • Jacob saw the Angels ascending and descending when he fell asleep. [Genesis 28:12]

  • God spoke to Jacob and promised him descendants in his dream. [Genesis 28:13]

  • God gives us instructions or warnings whilst we sleep. [Job 33:16, Genesis 20:1-8]

But God isn't the only one trying to speak to you in your Dreams, disguised dark spirit entities, are trying to make agreements with you, so they can enter into this world, via your dreams!

  • Then thou scariest me with dreams, and terrified me through visions: [Job 7:14]

5 COMMON DREAMS AND THEIR MEANINGS

1. DREAMS ABOUT FALLING Dreams about falling from great heights, falling from the sky, or falling into the abyss, are very common. Popular myth claims if you hit the ground in your dream you will die in real life, this has not been proven.

According to dream interpretations and studies, falling dreams are a sign that something in your life isn't going well.

"Dreaming of falling is very common. It is a symbol of fear in real life - perhaps of failing at work or in your love life," claims Russell Grant, author of The Illustrated Dream Dictionary.

The Bible describes falling in dreams as:

(a) out of control

(b) sinning

(c) death

(e) troubled spirit

(f) taking eyes off God

(g) losing God's protection

(h) someone trying to trap another

In his dreams, my brother was pulled into a vortex, falling down into a dark abyss, and woke up in great fright. I know he was being attacked by dark spirit entities, because everyone who slept in that room had similar dreams, or attacks, they were trying to grab his soul, and fill him with fear!

2. DREAMS ABOUT BEING CHASED Most common Dreams feature being pursued by a known, or unknown attacker, a monster, creature of the night, dark shadow spirits, chasing us down a long dark tunnel, a dark forest, a dark street, they leave us full of fear and anxiety. These are usually terrifying, and when we wake up feel afraid and anxious about it, and sometimes even paranoid that someone is still watching us. Some Dream interpreters suggest these types of dreams mean "you are trying to avoid something in your daily life."

Tony Crisp, author of Dream Dictionary, suggests, "being chased in a dream might indicate a desire to escape from your own fears or desires."

The Bible says, being chased in a Dream means "someone is threatening you in real life."

When I had a dream of people chasing me down the back streets of a local unknown suburb, trapping me into an alleyway behind a fence of a house I didn't know, then pushed into the house, where I was locked in by three witches, who were trying to steal my heart!

The heart is the center of the inner spirit man, this is the place of power and glory, and where God resides in our inner man.

There is much power here. What I have learnt is, witches need power to make their magic work, and "the light" is the biggest power source. Therefore, they try very hard to steal your power, or glory, from you, so they can do evil work!

What I have learnt, through much research is that, if witches gain access to your soul, or your spirit, via your ancestors meddling in witchcraft, or through some kind of spell, i.e. tarot card reading, coffee cup reading, they can enter your dreams this way, through supernatural doorways and try to steal from you [more about this topic in How to break free from Dream Stealers].

3. DREAMS ABOUT LOSING TEETH Losing teeth was another major common Dream topic. Weird as it may seem, people were very curious as to why they were having these types of Dreams.

Penny Peirce, author of Dream Dictionary for Dummies, suggests that dreaming about losing teeth can have multiple meanings: "you are worried about your attractiveness or appearance. It might also indicate that you are concerned about your ability to communicate or concerned that you might have said something embarrassing. The real essence of teeth is their ability to bite through, to cut, tear, and grind, she explains. If your teeth fall out, you lose personal power and your ability to be assertive, decisive, and self-protective.

The Bible says, that loosing teeth in the Dream means:

(a) shame

(b) losing face

(c) humbled

(d) loss of pride

(e) poor self image

4. DREAMS ABOUT FLYING Common Dreams are usually about flying and are experienced by many. Seemingly exciting and invigorating, can sometimes be frightening (especially if your afraid of heights).

According to Tony Crisp, author of Dream Dictionary, dreams about flying often represent two different sides. On one hand, such dreams can represent feelings of freedom and independence, on the other, can indicate a desire to flee or escape from the realities of life.

"Flying alone occurs most frequently," he writes, "showing the independent aspect of flying. But because it often involves positive feelings of pleasure, flying may depict our sexuality…especially aspects of it expressing freedom from social norms and restraints."

The Bible says, flying in Dreams is:

(a) rising up out of the flesh into the spirit; (breaking physical laws)

(b) moving in the gifts

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit all 1 Corinthians 12:7

5. DREAMS ABOUT PREGNANCY Dream interpreters suggest dreams about pregnancy represent everything from creativity to fear. David C. Lohff, the author of Dream Dictionary, believes that pregnancy dreams might sometimes represent a woman's fears of being an inadequate mother. Author Tony Crisp, on the other hand, suggests that such dreams indicate that the dreamer is developing some area of potential or deepening a relationship.

The Bible says, that Dreaming of pregnancy means:

(a) to be expectant

(b) awaiting birth of a new ministry, business, something new

(c) something ungodly is going to be released

(d) a promise coming to pass Learn more in Out of the Darkness Book Series Book Two - How to break free from Dream Stealers by author Semra Michaels
